nope... sry Metropolis clears Murnau but he might have had the better ration overall.
Nosferatu vs Mabuse The Gambler
easily Mabuse true
Last Laugh vs Nibelungen
Murnau smoked him
Faust and also Tartuffe vs Metropolis
sorry Fritz you tried
Sunrise vs Spies
Murnau smoked him
City Girl vs Woman On The Moon
tie
Tabu vs M
Lang smoked him
How many of yall hyping Begins have actually rewatched it?
The action scenes are easily the worst in the trilogy with straight up bad direction and choppy editing. With Rises at least the clunkiness has a utility and power. The first act always feels too long and the third act always feels too abrupt.
It really feels like a product of its time whereas Rises feels like it could have come out yesterday.
rewatch it like once a year, other than the fights love everything about it, the narrows, bat demon hallucinations

Faust is easily the weakest "big" Murnau classic. Has a few iconic shots but the story doesn't fully work. I'd definitely take something like Tabu over it (but that's 1930)
1. Metropolis (Lang)
2. Sunrise (Murnau)
3. Dr. Mabuse (Lang)
4. Nosferatu (Murnau)
5. Der müde Tod/Destiny (Lang)
6. Der letzte Mann/Last Laugh (Murnau)
7. Faust (Murnau)
...
all of them better than any Batman film I've seen tho

Looks like a tie to me
Batman 2022 has arguably the most depressingly horrible third act of any blockbuster in at least the last ten years.
There have been worse third acts, but they’re attached to bad movies preceding it. Batman had me fully locked in and then they just f***ed it all away and ended on a whimper
Plus, Begins is the best of the Nolan trilogy so yeah.
yeah i remember the final hour was dragging that thing ouuuuttt

tbf I have a hard love for Metropolis. Even wrote about it in my political science course but I really do believe it's the best 20s film.
Murnau only below lang in the long run because he died and Lang has a couple bangers afterwards (M, Fury, Big Heat, YOLO, etc.)

I get it but who would Lang be without his nazi wife Thea
nobody
true
I get that Faust was running on vibes for a lot of its runtime, but they're still the most spellbinding vibes ever

My only problem was the pace
I kinda liked that he really f***ed up his defecting and learned that he needed to not be such a self obsessed edge lord if he wanted to do good for the world
My hot take with Nolan is that Prestige also makes less sense upon rewatch when you know the twist. Loved it on first watch tho it blew my mind as a kid
This is blatantly not true.
This is blatantly not true.
Some of the choices the Bale twins do make no sense unless they absolutely hated each other
Different times
Nolan reintroduced Batman to the general audience after "Batman & Robin" and set the tone for the "gritty/realistic" adaptations of the next decade
Reeves & Pattinson are like boom, I'm already Batman (taking advantage of the popularity in media after the movies, TV shows, games, comics). They don't do the whole origin story

Had to take my like back after getting to this last line
I like Robert Pattinsons Batman too. reminds me of the original Batman show and Batman Beyond. really got back into the World’s Greatest Detective aspect of him. could have done with a little less dark, emo s*** from Rob but he played the role very well. he’s like a younger version of the Bruce from Batman Beyond. I’ll take it over Ben Affleck tbh

i think trying to establish the plot with Selina Kyle, though needed, was what made the movie feel long

lot of super hero movies feel so over stuffed, this is probably one of the worst offenders

2 villains and an anti-hero on debut movie is a lil OD, they coulda just made this s*** a riddler movie and saved Penguin/Selina for #2
