this is the exact main hangup about it. like we can't sit here and say Batman is an older guy yet contemporaries with Superman and just ignore him completely for the first like 7 years of this universe. doesn't make sense.

Batman should have been a higher priority than man of tomorrow to me but maybe man of tomorrow introduces many characters we will see more of in tv and film at a faster clip

Did I stutter . In terms of writing and tone this is better than most hero s*** we’ve gotten for the past 10-15 years

We 1/10 episodes in, and Marvel has produced plenty of great stuff over the past 18 years. The pilot was great though

    Tone isn’t qualitative tbf

Tone as in it feels more natural to me personally in tv
Show than many marvel or dc shows of the past where it is too sitcom like with pauses for laughter . It still does have some of my gripes with repeating main themes or plot points too much .

I think heroes better than a lot of marvel dc content too and I’ve said that

What great tv have they produced writing wise ?

  • Aug 17

Writing hasn’t been hero content strong suit that’s often why when people call that out many of you use the excuse of “ it’s based on a comic book “

Watchmen tv show has competed and it’s better than everything marvel and dceu or dcu has dropped to

  • HaroldsChicken

The logic kind of not there and defeats purpose of a universe if Gotham some how makes 0 mention of everything going on in dcu but Rob appears for team ups . It’s a bit of too much fan service to do that

Not that it can’t acknowledge that something happened just throw it on a newspaper or report on TV

The stories can still stand alone

They dont want to oversaturate the brand by having 2 theatrical batmans at once especially after flash bombed

I think it didn’t stick the landing too but I think people have been conditioned to accept lazy formulaic writing as long as it has fan service and a lot of this hero s*** is one time watch at most with some people forcing themselves to watch s*** just to say they have seen it all

You ask me would I rather watch any of those or watch penguin watchmen or lanterns the choice is not difficult which is why I said for me it’s in a different league . If you love those think they are well written that’s dope for me they aren’t

Not really taking a position here...but tbf calendar wise The Batman takes place before most of DCU events atm, and i probably before a Superman emerges. Gotham is also pretty isolated to the U.S. and other cities.

Theoretically if they did this, it taking place in like 2028-2030 or something would mean Batman's like at year 8-10. He'd just age up into events.

I think you just aren’t a big fan of Marvel in general which is fine

Daredevil is an exceptional television show

WandaVision is beautifully written & acted

    Loki is incredible

    Wonder Man is super endearing

If you really don’t like any of them Marvel just might not be your thing

Over saturate what just drop good content they can’t wait til Batman 3 drops to drop Batman movies . Spider man and into the spider verse drop back to back we seeing the x men in dooomsdsy secret wars then a new movie . Flash bombed for many reasons .they dropped a supergirl movie with a Superman cameo and we see supergirl again next movie with rumors of Superman cameo in lanterns just drop good content and stop pretending the audience too dumb to see it’s a different tone or universe

cause those things aren't necessarily conducive to the overarching story they want to tell?

We think a Waller show or a Paradise Lost (prequel to Wonder Woman) is in anyway something that needs to be made? they prob had great ideas for it and figured we don't need to do this right now, especially if looking at the landscape of comic book television.

wonder man got emmy nominations but got canned so i mean idk

Yeah only a coincidence that they cancelled the only other women-led projects on the slate after Supergirl flopped

They just didn’t have a plan whether supergirl failing doesn’t mean women lead movies can’t succeed

  • Aug 17

    The writing was dogshit

  • I don't think Reeves is thinking about anything other than P2 right now tho, nor will he or Pattinson just easily do this. They have one goal and have no incentive to think about this at the moment.

The burden also isn't on their side. DCU would need to adjust to them arguably more than the other way around.

DC's objectives as a company matter more than intricacies of a shared universe and so far they not only have Batman covered..it's their biggest franchise led by one of Hollywood's standout stars right now. Other heroes now need this focus so everyone can do well

  • Aug 17

    As movies I have x men 1 and 2
Spider man 1 and 2 above most marvel movies too lol . These aren’t hot takes

In retrospect, Clayface being reworked from Reevesverse to DCU was the most obvious sign but people didn’t want to hear it

Like not liking all of them is fine, but you’re a Marvel fan and you don’t like ANY of those? Aight
