Imma be honest I don't think it's even gonna last till December
Musically and Culturally I do not think they are there as a collective
Definitely not on a level of a East Coast or Down South
No knock either. I f*** with the West. But I see this more so as a flash in the pan over a sign of things to come.
I just can't see Mustard beats n Sharked Drakeo flows taking over the culture
DJ hed was on social media yesterday saying he had a convo with Kendrick n it looks they gon run it for the rest of the decade
But I ain't seeing it
SZA and Doechii are basically west coast since theyre on TDE.
Kendrick
Tyler
ScHoolboy Q
SZA
Doechii
Yeah the west got this..
the west ain't really running nothing lol
Didn't future and trav outperformed the west this year alone?
SZA is from ST LOUIS
Mustard sold 13k
YG sold 7k
Kendrick & Tyler sold 300k / piece
I don't consider West to be running s*** even tho Kendrick and Tyler had a great year. I feel like they're running the game as individuals.
I honestly think it takes a collective (more than 3 artists) to really change a landscape and make an impact.
90s west coast you had Pac, Snoop, Dre, Eazy E, Ice Cube
East Coast 2000s had Jay Z, Nas, Diplomats, DMX and eventually 50 Cent
If you want to take it to more recent ventures then ATL 10s with Thug, Future, Migos, Rich Homie Quan, OG Maco (yeah I will add him in here because B**** U Guessed it helped bridge a gap for the scene before Bad and Boujee)
To me this is the definition of an area running s***, when you got various artists from the same area ticking boxes and making noise
but regardless it’s just two niggas ain’t nobody gonna be spinning some lefty gunplay or whoever in maryland
i hope not cause the west coast got the worst regional sound idc what nobody say
Yes I just can't see the sound being the main sound of hip hop
If we go to that then it would be a reduction from where we at right now.
Sonically the South pushed Hip Hop to new heights
We gotta keep on moving forward
Idk about the whole west but kendrick is gonna keep yall niggas crying all year no doubt about it
has west coast music even influenced anything in the past decade
i dont even think west coast is top 3 in terms of music influence in the past 10 years
east coast spawns copy cat genres in entire different continents
I don’t see the West Coast running rap
I fw West Coast music but they don’t have any young stars, gang politics prevents them from collaboration and putting on new guys and Kendrick himself can’t carry rap with how he’s been moving quietly throughout his career
corporations running s***
High iq post. Major labels actively encouraging and catalyzing rap beef so as to garner one last big revenue pull from a genre they are actively dropping a plethora of artists from and rotating out of financially.. Nobody sees the big picture it's wild lol

Fax, south was so majorly responsible for the growth of hip hop in the 21st century
