this is kinda interesting. earlier this year spotify was apparently telling some of its users that they were in the top % of frequent listeners for certain artists tho i wouldn't know because i use apple music but anyway at that time we didn't rly know what that feature was for other than bragging rights if ppl actually cared

but now we see some use

bea's using it to offer some zine thing which kinda reminds me of how CDs would have album inserts except now it's sold separately LOL

and only to her top listeners that's the interesting part to me

makes me wonder how else this feature will be used and whether it'll be adopted by other streaming services. since spotify is currently the only one doing this top listeners s***, they pretty much own the market on collaborating with artists to sell this top listeners exclusive s***

i also wonder how far the feature will go

maybe top listeners will get to listen to an album before its official release date?
will we see the sneaky return of albums exclusively releasing on particular streaming services?

but a more obvious result will be that if this exclusive stuff catches on (n it probably will), ppl will be incentivized to listen to certain artists more (or just silently replay their music for hours)
