prob random tags but idc this is def at least my most interesting and personal mix yet. be warned this s*** is RAW as s*** emotionally, a straight up exorcism of sorts of pure rage... working through my broken mindstate and all the anger and sadness after having to sever ties w my ex for good last month after her continuously treating me like s***...

it's also a club mix tho and s*** do be lit... 👀 but bc the friend who's HKCR residency I made this for makes fried noisey club herself I wasn't afraid to go into full-on noise and wall of sound, there's a ton of LOUD moments in here but I take it to another level w the second half, climaxing in a blend of double intensity from Haxan Cloak and TV On The Radio.

also I'm still not rly a DJ tbh... I put a lot of work in on VDJ trying to pull of blends and interesting transitions but had to practice over and over, record in sections then piece together 5-10min parts in the end. it was a ton of work to assemble my ideas to the best of my abilities and still v much sounds rough around the edges, I hope u enjoy tho!

No problem! - the blending of those two sections is good too, and to me it felt like a juxtaposition of a more like "nature" n "mechanical" theme n environment n how it kinda ping ponged back n forth in that stretch of time

HMX is more underground flipping dancehall into something harder, Demdike proper OGs of dark club also. but since u pointed him out specifically, Slikback is one of the most incredible artists rn doing noisy club. he's from Kenya

saw him in Berlin b2b Brodinski the other day (French rap/club producer), absolutely mindblowing. highly recommend checking out his albums, such an insane mix of noise, club and trap. dropped a rly amazing one on Planet Mu this year

achieved my goal of doing the exact opposite workflow recording this compared to emo club - I had wayyy way too much material already, including many ambient rap songs, Japanese songs I wanted to use, as well as noise ambient.

I just hit record with 4 tabs playing stuff and went all in on improvising and doing my weirdest most experimental trippy atmospheric mixing for this - main inspo being Jim O'Rourke NTS and SALEM's chopped and screwed mixes. in 1h kind of got all the various things I wanted in. also did a whole bit collaging samples from Angel Dust (1994) by Sogo Ishii, one of my film goats (better known for August in the Water).

mad happy and surprised by myself how after 6 months of over-thinking and over-preparing it suddenly all came together just like that.

I def challenged myself to do something extra experimental for my boy SAK w the Japanese mix, bc I know he rly gets and appreciates when I go weird w it. was kinda forced to do something cool in one take too bc I literally only had a day left to deadline + week delay after spending an entire month on the club mix which was supposed to be the quick and dirty fun one to do in a few days in the end w where inspiration took me I had to flip that lol.

but the DJing w chrome tabs is something I've lowkey been doing for a long while just to amuse myself or annoy friends lmao. bandcamp tempo adjust is a goated chrome extension to be able to play w stuff without even downloading. it's pretty annoying youtube made speed change a premium thing now tho
