Because welfare incentivizes people to stay below a certain income threshhold to receive benefits. If you can't see why UBI is better than you're just being willfully dense.

I hate to break it to you, but no nigga, a majority of people do not do that. People make this same exact case against UBI to begin with so idk why you used it, and it's a poor argument to use against trad welfare.

How is that a poor argument? With UBI poor folk and continue to work without worrying about losing their benefits, while also having UBI as a cushion to fall back on? what are you not understanding

  • I like how everybody is criticizing Tim Pool when Tim Pool is there brother.

Because it's not true. People don't stop progressing and stop seeking opportunities on a large-scale because they don't want to lose their benefits but rather they are stuck below that income threshold for one reason or another, a major one being wages. With that being said, if you took out welfare and snap and replaced it with 1k (which shouldn't happen tbh), how is that progressing people and not just just streamlining the process and how is that largely helping the poor.

If people are losing their benefits in order for the 1000 percent they are spending a majority, if not all of that money a monthly basis. Now how is that going to progress them out of poverty?

  • Jan 21, 2020

So like if automaton happens and people lose their jobs u know 12 ain't s*** right

Once again people don't choose to be under that threshold. Yes, it's s***ty but it's not stopping people from wanting to eventually get off welfare. Does it want some people to stay under that threshold inorder to keep receiving those benefits? Yes, but not by a large margin in which you are proposing. Will it be good if those who above thar margin to keep receiving aid that need it yes? But how is that in mass going to help the people who are STUCK under that threshold alone. Because this mans whole plan so far has been nothing but automation fearmongering and neetbucks.

Like I and Yang said before man. It's not a solution to the problem, it's just to get the foot off everyones necks so we can all think a little more clearly and have the necessary conversations to help the poor. Why are you acting like UBI is the end all be all. It's not. And no one said it was.

Well what else does the nigga have? If you talk about anything else he'll pivot it back to neetbucks. Raising wages? Nope, bad, heres 1k tho. Medicare for all? Nope, I like the spirit of it tho, but how about them neetbucks. Ight but what about taxing corporations.... Sure, for neetbucks

i don't dislike Yang. he seems genuine as I've said before and he definitely thinks he's doing the right thing without special interests. the issue with UBI is it's too literal. like i don't know about you, bureaucracy in social services can be bad and i don't knock people for disliking it in its current form, but i trust the general public even less than i do bureaucracy

the idea of conceptualized "hierarchy" being inherently bad or in a pyramid-scheme format comes from meaningless obsessions born from greed and lust driven motives which have seeped into everyday lifestyles thanks to western modernization. it has nothing to do with praising government, nor defending authority, it has to do with recognition of the importance of societal roles. People are so obsessed with "freedom" and "liberty" that they often don't stop to think how constructed these metrics really are

well you're not WRONG, but i still the majority of people would benefit more from the money being in their own hands than not. Sure there will be some bad eggs but that isn't a big enough reason to keep it out of the hands of the majority

I'm not going to be angry if something like that is established, I don't actively wish to strip people of anything. if that gets established and works, then so be it. I just think our current society is remarkably unstable and culture vehemently needs to change rather than placing bandaids on economics or something continually.

I like how they attack bernies medical for all but yet alot of the s*** in here that's not simplified to death is to the discretion of Congress, especially the d*** negotiation part which has just as much chance as bernies does A lot of this either is too simplified or s*** I'd get with Bernie anyways. However I do like the idea of a Federal registry for doctors rather than a state level one, but there is the risk that it could significantly drop if the wrong person is in power. Yang is a cool dude, I just don't like most of his policies plus he's not even close to Biden or Bernie.
