2011 was the year the underground exploded. The greatest year ever for mixtapes and a lot of current greats got going during that year.

Really good year, very transitional but high quality. It set the stage for a lot of 2010s trends while seeing the peak of some others.

All of which was the beginning of what we would see dominate the decade. All of these projects were great. I know 2015 and 2016 have more stacked projects but this time was just different. It was quality over quantity back then.

2019

That’s just not true at all and 2017 was pretty solid. 2018, while not a bad year, it kind of was the starting point for mainstream rap to eventually become a joke imo

For example the 70s had a new release from the Beatles, the birth of hip hop, Frank Sinatra, Marvin Gaye, Joni, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Joy Division, Chic, Diana Ross, f*** it, even PICASSO was making s***

2017 was a really unique cross section

But 2016 will always be f***in legendary ofc Beyoncé Solange Radiohead David Bowie Frankx2 Kendrick etc etc

Worst was 2019 no doubt

2019 was pop smoke year so that can’t be the worst lol

In electronic it was the worst year of the decade without a doubt for instance too
