It’s about contemporary Russian society in general, with focuses on the elite and fringes, so politics plays into it a lot

Less focused on Putin and more on the rise of the oligarchs but Putin plays a big role in it too

Once Upon a Time in Russia by Ben Mezrich
Super easy read too it’s by the dude who wrote the book that The Social Network was based on

“The New Tsar” by Steven Lee Meyers. it’s a really good bio of his entire life and the background info gives you great insight to why putin rules the way he does. also shows how he’s changed a lot as a ruler since 2000 which is pretty interesting
