"The 1930s, considered the first "Golden Period" of Chinese cinema, saw the advent of the leftist cinematic movement. The dispute between Nationalists and Communists was reflected in the films produced"
don't think I've seen any of these but I've been reading a ton about China's history and am looking forward to checking them out.
"Throughout the 1930s, the Nationalists and the Communists struggled for power and control over the major studios; their influence can be seen in the films the studios produced during this period."
Crazy that they were still making films in the middle of a civil war
be interesting to see Mao vs Kai-Shek ideologies play out as the power struggle fluctuates. I got the impression Mao was busy hopping from cave to cave or holed up in some remote communist stronghold doing guerilla warfare all decade.
"The expression "the lunatics have taken over the asylum" means a situation in which incapable people are put in charge of responsibilities they are unqualified to handle. In simple terms it means idiots or fools have been put in charge of doing important or complicated things. Richard A. Rowland first used this expression in 1919 when famous movie stars Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford opened the movie company United Artists to protect their work and control their careers."
Finally started digging into the Universal Monsters 4k boxset last night with the original Dracula. Haven't seen it since high school so it was nice to revisit. I strongly prefer Nosferatu over it but Bela Lugosi kills that role.

Trying to find Love and Duty
i've got a 44gb of that, but i'd have to throw it in handbrake to compress it a bit cause no way i can upload a 44gb raw rip
there's a 2.37GB rip with a direct DL link, but not sure if it does the restoration justice with all that macroblocking and artifacts from being compressed so hard
i haven't seen the film but I watched the restoration job extra and it seemed like a painstaking task to restore it so would do it justice to see it in a decent rip
