I didnt realize how quickly the war would homogenize our lists to almost strictly Hollywood
should've seen it coming but im really missing the cultural variety of the 20s and 30s rn
I entered a Mexican film on that, man. I believe there a bunch of Argentine films out there since they’re modeled off the Hollywood. Germany invaded France and blitzkrieging through eastern front. Japanese are also hammering china and it seems to kill the film production.
Germany still be making propaganda pieces like that anti-Semitic one you mentioned though
I wonder the materials making film seems to scaled back

yeah I tried to check out the Mexican one but couldn't find a decent quality version.
I expected to come across more German stuff based off that conversation Fassbinder had with Churchill in Basterds about Goebells version of Hollywood doing remarkably well but apparently not.
Stalin had throttled any creativity that mightve existed out of his industry but it seems like Czech had some interesting stuff if I could just find decent versions.
saw a really cozy Shimizu yesterday, which apparently got criticized at the time for the being "a "la-di-da" film in times when film stock was precious" so yeah total war demands definitely hampered everything. felt weird seeing such a nice movie, knowing what Japan was doing in China/SE Asia and what they were preparing to do to Pearl Harbour.

47 Ronin is like 4 hours long, hard pass
