For What It's Worth seem way way too high but Neil's on there so I'll allow it
Sounds almost like a less potent version of this

@fuk_an_ad_lib this is the song that turned me into a fan when I was young. Written by Graham Gouldman after he wrote all the early Yardbirds hits and before he started 10cc.
isn't it '67?
relistened to it (& Forever Changes) before responding. A great album. While the melodies can be a bit simple they definitely have their purpose and the arrangements are very colorful. The last track is also just a jam and probably my favorite thing they've done. Prefer it to Forever Changes, which is still a very good album.
But yeah I always thought it was '67 too but nope they just had the most timeless production of '66 (along with Hendrix)

probably that high for the political/protest aspect and critics picking it for historical significance

They were very famous. Even more twee than the Hollies.
Paul Revere and The Raiders had more classics than I realized. Should probably check out Manfred Mann too.
ok found some actual footage
look at these f***in hipsters
apparently the new haynes doc is more footage over any new revealing info or anything. gonna queue that up later this week and see what's what
wish we got some more insight into the WL/WH sessions. album was made in just two days, can't imagine the amount of amphetamine's and junk the band was hopped up on

The piano, tambourine, bass and drums combination here is strong. Sounds like the peak of old motown (smokey coming from doo-wop) before Norman brought the psych and the funk.
For vibe though, this definitely sounds a bit like reach out but Much less intense

You said you just hate the crowd which is fair. I only really stick up for the 12 Min lost someone which has him finding his Prime.

last two Ray classics for me

Martha comes through again with an incredibly sultry deep cut
@twinkletoez even though the Supremes have way more hits and epic productions, s*** like this is why Martha will always be my motown queen

Sounds like a Bond theme
Wish she a better career too

same year as Get Ready and this other classic

I guess everyone involved were starting to push the envelope further after years of international crossover success. This is the first year their hits stop being so vanilla so that they’re played with other pop artists at that time (The way you do the things you do, I hear a Symphony) and start being more R&B like Otis, Wilson and other new guys
