'68
I knew it was 67-69, just couldn’t remember lol
I also always forget it was a Dylan song originally.

people dont seem to realize all his iconic s*** came out in less than a two year period from late '66 to late '68
seems like all he did in '69 was woodstock then Band Of Gypsies album and some touring in '70 then gone

this mean you havent marinated on John Wesley Harding then?
Nah
It's 1967 :elon: now's the time. I don't even want to start going off but it is amazing. You will appreciate the stark contrast to the rest of 1967 which he influenced and the depth of his weighty parables. Some surprising warmth and humor. Top tier.

Gotta do my Safe As Milk re-listen first
Apparently not many rock stars continued to carry their guitar around and practice all day every day with the discipline of McGuinn and it sure f***in sounds like it when he plays such ridiculously pristine and articulate guitar as this
as hard as Crosby tried to ruin this beautiful arrangement with his ridiculous lyrics he can't

Do a re-re listen then brine before you marinate
It feels so good to flip Younger Than Yesterday over to the hauntingly delicate Time Between
Then realize I gotta sit all the way through Mind Gardens before I get to My Back Pages
this man Crosby was a menace tbh

@RVI when Clarence White came in to help weave on Time Between
ninja
Heard much of the live stuff when he came into the fold full time later on? Pretty gnarly
Chris Hillman truly the Byrd's George Harrison
didn't write or sing anything on the first three albums but almost stole the show on YTY

Man that Lover of the Bayou intro is tremendous. Clarencebgot brought up in that country music documentary as a well-known bluegrass wizard before the Byds hired him.

i cant recall it from memory because ive only heard the album about 5 times
i gotta revisit album tho i only checked it out of curiosity after kinda wanting to shun it as not "true byrds"
havent heard Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde

Peep my edit. Clarence has deep heritage and I wouldn't be surprised if you could find some more live stuff with him absolutely scorching Earth in some long epic jams.

bluegrass eh, i gotta check some bluegrass. the extent of my exploration was listening to about 3 Bill Monroe songs
some of those guys kinda shred. i wonder if more modern "jamgrass" stuff is actually good too

I also kind of shun it cause McGuinn lost alot of his magic but Clarence is insane

Clarence's wiki page is pretty nuts
one of the key parts of Garcia's musical heritage, he cut his teeth as an accomplished bluegrass banjo player and apparently his guitar style took a lot from it, something about the brightness

Yeah I can definitely see that translating you gotta be wicked good at picking on banjo

Been listening to that and the Alan Bown record I found. Both sinking in hard
