always been one of my favourite pop ditties of the early 60s

just found out one of the rockabilly goats did a cover instantly

and i didnt actually find it through research, coincidentally saw it used in a random Sally Hawkins/David Thewlis movie last month @Lawdie and it was used in a beautiful montage scene
was like
"is that f***ing Ricky??"

Lemme get the name of the movie
I'm going with albums cuz I think 'best songs' is too subjective to even try to rank.

Unquestionably one of the greats.

Karajan conducting Beethoven at his peak.

A classic Christmas album.

The album tag describes it well enough.

I couldn't find the complete album on youtube, but I love it when technical gods try their hand at calm compositions.

forgot Spectors christmas album came out in '63 too
jesus christ this man snapped that year
2 extreme classics with the crystals
2 masterpieces with the ronettes
2 or 3 classics with darlene love
and the definitely the best chrismas album oat
didnt realize he had an Elvis in '56, Dylan in '66, Bowie in '76 level year
Dylan demo that Elvis somehow found and recorded a few years later which Bob considered the proudest moment of his life

brian finds his groove and writes two of the all time classic ballads

and this lowkey mood piece thats just as good.

having a chill time listening to this and then that ending finale out of nowhere
roys got no chill

@fuk_an_ad_lib sinatra got nothin on roy
whew another amazing one from peggy march. didnt realize anyone else was in the same realm of dramatic yearning as spector around then.

ngl @RVI i thought the Beau Brummels wrote this for Triangle but (seems obvious now) its a traditional folk song

Cash takin me to school with his deep dives into the american songbook
should get as much credit as Dylan does for plumbing the depths. kinda cheating tho cause Dylan learned everything he knew from the Carter family and that was literal fam for Cash.

another goat enters the fray
Neil Youngs first single was released with his surf band The Squires. you can definitely hear shades of his later work on the b-side

Merle Haggard's first hit
often considered the goat of country music alongside Johnny Cash

Heard this for the first time yesterday
love the mariachi sound he went for that year

You a big country guy?
You a big country guy?
Not huge, my friend showed me a lot of Johnny Cash and as well as my grandfather. I thought I’d stop by with this song since it came out in 1963 and one I really enjoy.
Also show some support.
last few classics from Patsy Cline before she was killed in a plane crash
queen was gonna give her whole genre crossover success with people not into straight country music
