Ill check some of it out, the album I heard was the one with that egg on the cover
that one was good but Brothers was the opus
Black Moses is such an opus
feel like I would need a couple extra months just to let all the Isaac Hayes from this year sink in properly. He should get way more praise than he does, especially since he was producing himself.
Glad u came around
Al Green - Get's Next to You
Curtis Mayfield - Roots
Isaac Hayes - Shaft and Black Moses
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
P-Funk - Maggot Brain
Sly & The Family Stone - Theres A Riot Going On
Bill Withers - Just As I Am
Steve Wonder - Where I'm Coming From
Temptations - Sky's The Limit
Gil Scott Heron - Pieces Of A Man
this gotta be the peak year for soul and funk albums

Glad u came around
so glad I didnt forgot about it after listening to Shaft
that fuzz guitar
@RVI @twinkletoez
sounds so out of place in 1971, let alone on some smooth soul

I know you aren't down with Detroit white boys doing black music and the BK are uncool but ill always defend their 2010 album as being an opus. check;

Dan and Pat are legit insane

classic rock had a banner year as well;
Led Zeppelin 4
Sticky Fingers
Imagine
Who's Next
Hunky Dory
Surfs Up
LA Woman
Every Picture Tells A Story
Electric Warrior
Masters Of Reality
Fragile

Nah this was the perfect end to the experimental ‘60s. Shame Jimi and Janis couldn’t contribute.

my copt was flimsy paper
did you know this gets credit for inventing?
thought it was kinks
wtf
kinks is definitely invented some kind of distortion but i dont know enough about guitar to say what. guess its difference between specifically using fuzz pedal(?) for fuzz bass/guitar and the ripping distorted sound

I think it was like a Pink Floyd situation where they were scrambling to maintain their relevance and vision after losing their core composer. Dennis had one of the all time glo-ups, with his songwriting blossoming to pretty well Brian levels. George Harrison type move,
