was actually reading the story of this song yesterday record exec Jerry Wexler turned Wilson Pickett down for a contract but kept this song and without his knowledge gave it to Solomon who turned it into a hit before he got a chance (and because Wilson he couldnt compete with big label marketing) it crushed Wilson but when he went back to Wexler with another song, he denied being mad about it and told Jerry "its over" real one. his next song was good enough to get signed and he went on to be one of Stax records goats and the only singer of the era that could step to the raw power of Otis
