Playlist was great
will keep in rotation obv
Gracias solo album
went in blind it's way more out there than I was expecting. Sounds like space rock and points and art rock at others.
Yeah the garcia album is great. Some stuff on that 2nd side is a lot more psych than youd expect for '72. Tapped into some of the anthem of the sun f***ery but in a more balanced way. He's got a couple other good solo ones that surprised me
Jerry garcia band is also an entire other catalogue of really great stuff that'll start up in a few years. I'm still not super fully versed on a lot of it
Man this Neil Diamond live album
I hate this guy
ok Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon still slaps but the rest is far too fromage for me

I always thought that The Dead played super spacey psychedelic s*** but when I finally heard them I was surprised how rootsy they were, even at the height of the 60s. This sounds more like what I pictured them sounding like when I was young.

There's still plenty of that even for 70s+ Dead in the 20-30min Dark Star, Other One, Playing in the Band etc. But I just put a few of them on the Playlist not to bog it down but I could have put like 10 crazy long dark stars all completely different maximum psychedelia. It can be like 2 bands in one where you could listen to the shorter rootsy songs or exclusively the long jams. You get to those 30min ones I did put on there?
I find a lot of the psych elements to be in the mixing/alternating between the roots and the jams. Makes it feel like that good vibes smiling hippie brand of psych. Opposite end of spectrum of late 60s pink floyd in some ways
After the hiatus (75-76) they didn't delve as much into full on psych as much except for the given 10-30 minutes of most shows were they would do some. Also partly due to 2 drummers returning. For 1972-1974 stuff you can feel Kreutzmann as the single drummer taking things more free form and going in a bunch of different directions when they jam
Mr Zoot Horn Rollo
hit that long lunar note and let it float
So weird to hear Beefheart making accessible music after being stuck in the trenches for years
I already like it alot

he gets a bit weird again in the late 70s but still nothing trout mask level. (his last 3 albums are all great too)
his 1974 albums are probably his most ordinary sounding. they are overhated, i think theyre okay even tho def his worst

Nah I grew up on Floyd so I expected The Dead to be like that but they're generally devoid of any spacey production. This Garcia album the first time I've heard em like this.
Thoughts on this album? Joe racking up an impressive run of classics already
can't believe he deigned to join the fking Eagles

@op ever peeped any Strawbs?
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B4kw4oYI8kJust the album Sandy was there for
thought they were power pop for years but they're more folk right?

3rd james gang is just okay for me with a few good songs
i think i could actually take all of those 4 joe walsh solo albums over any james gang
All the beef lately reminds me of the Temptations of all people having the first diss on wax, toward David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks who used to lead the group

"Superstar, good God
Enjoy your champagne and caviar
And your chauffeur driven fancy car
But remember how you got where you are
Oh ho ho, 'cause the same folks that made you
Mhm, you better believe they can break you"
:ohtu:

Tiny bit. Witchy Woman was a bop this year but Take It Easy and Peaceful Easy Feeling are kill self classics.

ok
hard to trust a "canterbury classic" opinion from a Third detractor but i'll listen...
