anyway my brazil classics recs @Elric
- Edu Lobo - Edu Lobo (Missa breve) (MPB with some mystic Christian vibes)
- Milton Nascimento - Milagre dos peixes (more abstract than his usual, censors wouldnt let him use the lyrics he wanted so he just did wordless singing instead mostly)
- Joao Gilberto - Joao Gilberto (bossa nova classic from one of the big names)
- Nelson Cavaquinho s/t (traditional samba from an elderly legend)
- Marcos Valle - Previsao do tempo (just really catchy and likable MPB)
- Som Imaginario - Matanca Do Porco (prog with samba/jazz elements, band leader pianist was one of Milton's main collaborators)
- Secos & Molhados s/t (a bit glammy, androgynous vocals folk/rock/pop/mpb)
- Os Tincoas - Os Tincoas (samba with focus on constant vocal harmonies)
- Tom Ze - Todos os olhos (ne of the main tropicalia generation guys developing his more avant/folky take on samba)
- Raul Seixas - Krig-ha, Bandolo! (apparently this guy is considered one of the fathers of Brazilian rock, pretty straightforward but still very Brazilian sounding)
Jorge Ben album from this year is also very good but its medley re-recordings of his earlier stuff. the arrangements are better than the schmaltzier 60s version tbh
