the opening post has a pretty solid guide to those years brushing up on your rockabilly and early 60s pop would definitely increase you appreciation for later stuff

the 2nd Deep Purple album from this year is also good altough a sizeable step below burn. mostly this title track is great

surprised that ‘Right Down The Line’ isn’t in the 1968 playlist

It’s probably cause that’s the purest era for songwriting.

I never got into them, but I love their song This Time Around/Owed To G” from their 75 record.

I guess it was the ceiling of earnest
and straightforward songwriting craft before pop went postmodern for whatever and the parameters totally changed
