also Old Man Going but yeah these are brutal
Did you hear the Bedemon one I posted. It’s sinister as f***. Certainly the darkest and heaviest sounding song I’ve heard from 74.

yeah I did. just wish it wasnt so lo-fi.

I know you’re still a Roy Wood skeptic, but his album Mustard from 75 might be the one to win you over. It’s much closer to the Wizzard stuff and he flexes his pop songwriting “wizardry” (for lack of a better word) so hard—that he ends up pushing into Brian Wilson x Todd Rundgren territory.

well we have pentagram for the stuff thats like Bedemon except a bit less lo fi and these are also 1974

I listened to Rocks while I was out tonight and yeah that was definitely their most consistent. It pushes further into their core sound, but in a way that actually works for me. It’s like the songs are almost about to break at the seams at times. Nobody’s Fault is a killer example of that. The closer is also just a perfect cathartic moment after so much adrenaline.

Yeah nobody's fault is one of their best and heaviest ever
Anyone checked out the Flo & Eddie stuff? They’re the Turtles guys who ended up in Mothers of Invention for a while.

!https://youtu.be/7qLFPxQl3Sg?si=eo0kBKs2JSD_WSAQthat ending might just have to do a discog deep dive at some point, right now i just got those two records from 74 in rotation but the 75 release seems dope too.

He was definitely trying to do a dramatic Roy Orbison/Conway Twitty type ballad and he nailed it.
