A bit disappointed listening to the leak the other day. Going to try to give the official release more spins later and reevaluate

Let’s get this bread tubig
absolutely not
not vocally, not production wise, not writing wise, not visually
yes bro. I’m biased bc rnb Beyoncé is my favorite version of her but DIL is a phenomenal debut album. so much thought and care was put into it, it immediately let you know who she is.
not her best vocals in terms of skill, but certainly her most emotive performances. on that album more than any other, she sounded like she had something to prove

I also love the old school rnb influence. from the jump, you see how much of a student she is of the genre. tributes to Donna Summer, Chi-Lites, Bootsy Collins. she had Luther Vandross on that mf man

mixed in with a contemporary 2000s feel and appearances from Big Boi, Missy, Sean Paul; songs like Yes, Me Myself and I, Signs and the title track; big career defining single in Crazy in Love; that adorable ass interlude
that album was the perfect package. and it had Luther f***ing Vandross!
Okay but it did give us a duet with Luther Vandross
