Ataturk was a lieutenant in gallipoli bussin down NZ and Aus soldiers many years ago today. He wasnt in charge when the genocide happened. Who knows how he felt about it, not good probably but perhaps avoided the topic so he dont piss off the elite turk nationalists.

By being against islamist i think he meant being against mullahs and their superstitions. He was similar to Reza shah in that matter that's why they were buddy buddies and thats why both iran and turkey became modernized during their time. They probably both came a bit too strong, but seeing how f***ing evil mullahs are today, they were ultimately right

The "ok but what about x y and z" responses by leftists in this thread to an objectively big and good thing for the Biden admin to do is proof that nothing he can do will make them happy. If Bernie was president and had done this they would have been celebrating it.

you can acknowledge that recognizing a genocide which killed a million+ Armenians is good while also acknowledging that police killing people extrajudicially is bad its not either or

No offense but this the US, not Armenia. It’s a good thing to recognize but Biden needs to prioritize his own people first.

    From an interview with Ataturk..

    polytropy.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/mustafa-kemal-promises.jpg

"These leftovers from the former Young Turk Party, who should have been made to account for the lives of millions of our Christian subject who were ruthlessly driven en masse from their homes and massacred, have been restive under Republican rule. They have hitherto lived on plunder, robbery and bribery, and become inimical to any idea or suggestion to enlist in useful labor and earn their living by the honest sweat of their brow."

Sounds like he is condemning it to me..

I never said it was the real version nor did i even mention islam. Religion is a deeply personal thing, who am i to say what is real or not.

Anyway ataturk and reza shah were against supersitious beliefs, like going to a cleric and paying for a do'a so that your next offspring is a male. They wanted to educate people so that they dont fall into such traps.

Sadly since ayatollahs take over in iran mullahs been selling their absolution services for a fee in their million dollar shrines, and the practice of dumbbing down the population is #1 priority

I agree that the example you gave is wrong. You should be happy with what child God gives you. I see what you’re saying.

    israel? maybe idk

the armenian genocide happened tho right? whats wrong with acknowledging it?

Israel's actually been one of the forces against its recognition, because of their relationship with Turkey. More recently, that's changed to a degree, but they still won't call it a genocide.

That’s interesting I would have thought Israel wouldn’t ally themselves with any Majority Muslim country
