If I Ruled The World is probably one of the more played 90s hits tbh and Ether is probably one of the most well known diss songs of all time in Hip Hop.

Maybe not record breaking #1s but definitely hits within the Culture.

    Right.

Nas wasn't a huge crossover rap/pop star like it's normal to be now, so based on those standards he doesn't have a lot of hits.

But, he has plenty of songs that were huge in Hip hop circles and the culture resonated with over the years.

The charts don't always tell you what the Culture really fw.

Niggas forget Nas was huge in the black community and never crossed over to white audiences until white people started d***riding Illmatic, the first Nas song I heard was either You Owe Me or Oochie Wally, Nas stans hate those songs but I like them lol.

    Exactly.

Especially if you were an early 90s baby, you couldn't be really into rap, grew up in the Culture and not know at least 1 Nas song.

Maybe because he didn't want to? That's not him. Nas is one of the most complete rappers of all time. I never got this whole club bangers s*** anyways. Rap is from the streets, f*** the clubs.

Nas made club records for a bit in the late 90s which is part of the reason hiphopheads turned on him and Jay dissed him cuz that wasn't his lane.

People online use that "club hit" argument to discredit any highly lyrical rapper they don't like.

They do it with Em and Nas the most though and it's always been weird to me.

Yeah, definitely. But even Nas realized very quickly that it wasn't his lane.

All Ima post is anecdotal evidence because I don't care about the f***ing charts. Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer were the biggest rappers popularity wise in the early 90s and who brings them up nowadays? Macklemore had multiple top 10 hits earlier this decade, who talks about him now? F*** the charts.
