They're not gonna change s*** tho
1. "Industry Baby" debuting at No. 2 marks Lil Nas X's second top two launch of 2021, following the No. 1 bow of "Montero." Two years after a breakout hit so large that seemed like it could be an albatross in "Old Town Road," is he just a pop star full stop at this point, even apart from "Road"?
Andrew Unterberger: Yep, he's there. The success of "Montero" may have seemed largely hype-driven at first, but the song has stuck around -- spending 14 of its 18 weeks on the Hot 100 in the chart's top 10 -- and now "Industry Baby" looks on its way to following a similar trajectory. (As long as BTS is going to sell as many copies as they need to stay on top each week, No. 2 debuts are basically the new No. 1 debuts.) He's got the hits, he's got the videos, he's got the live performances, he's certainly got the personality and the social media presence -- that adds up to a pop star in 2021, and a rather important one.

Of course they’re not gonna change it
Theyre song sales regardless of how bullshitty they are
charts that chart how effective/expensive companies can be with their money are making companies upset because they can't spend enough for take #1 spot
not a big enough nerd to know whats going on with BTS and LNX
I got you
Notice the streams and sales for butter vs every other song under it
What is there to change tho? BTS still selling singles and labels are making money
Bundles were a clear bypass issue that had to be altered a bit but BTS fans are just buying the song. We gonna limit pure sale rules now?
interesting cos people were saying for a while that streaming wasn't as meaningful as sales but here we have a clear case of songs being propped up by sales and not actually being listened to and topping charts as a result. seems less representative of listening habits than anything.

At the end of the day tho they're still selling singles. You're listing very relevant sites to stream and buy music yeah but thats now where they're going.
They buy it here: store.bts-butter.us
Like should they create a rule to discount or limit sales from artist shops? I don't really find fans teaming up to support their artists as that bad of a thing. If it ain't them its gonna be the labels

hmm but what does it mean to be a "#1 song in the country on billboard"?
