So is the Global 200 gonna be more respected than the Hot 100?

Like when they say "X has 5 #1 hits" will they refer to the Hot 100 or the Global 200 more often?

  • Sep 14, 2020

This is like going from counting by country to counting globally and of course you’d have to strip radio play as it’d be hard to keep up with in all those countries.

This could be huge as it’d show who the world leaders are in music.

Well I personally think having a #1 hit on a global scale is more impressive than having one in a singular country, we'll see as time goes on I guess. It'll be interesting to see to say the least.

imo it isn't perfect atm because from my knowledge they're not counting a lot of domestic streaming platforms which are massive in SEA/India for example (where leading platforms such as spotify/apple music aren't as comparatively), which can hurt being a proper reflection of what's popular globally but I think something like that can be fixed in the future.

Basically the Global list will be dominated by Latin and Kpop songs with a few American in between.
