SORRY BILLIE, ITS O ROD SZN YA BISH

  • I think she’ll be fine. Keep in mind she’s only 19. Still think she’s finding her true aesthetic and lane. Sophomore albums, especially for pop artists, can be weird. Keep in mind she’s pretty easy to market and I think a lot of her fans will grow with her.

    She got destroyed

She was, somehow, a part of the SoundCloud rap generation, and that movement has been explored by the masses and killed the hype.

    Billie will be okay.
She always seemed like the home schooled girl who hung around the wired kids to create a cool personality, but has that honkey soul that mainstream loves

Are you surprised the album didn't cause the same storm as her debut? I kinda am.

For one, it's better than her debut Lots of gems.

It'll age well and it'll get it's just due after enough time has passed.

Very interesting that once the numerous singles underperformed, she immediately changed the narrative to "I've always been an album artist, not a singles artist" but even then, the album itself didn't perform even half as well as her last album so...

Seen a couple vids of her performing and the title track goes hard live and gets a good reaction.

It didn't "make that much noise" but it's selling decent week to week.

Plus she has a loyal fanbase so from this point on, her tours will always sell out. Even if she never has a massive era commercially, she'll be fine touring-wise. It's just kinda unfortunate that she's already peaked commercially at #19.

she lost her appeal when she leaned towards a sexual image

Seems like she gained more fans that way

From a sales standpoint the „album artist“ isn’t existing anymore. Pure sales are dead and the album charts only reflects the performance of its separate songs on streaming services.

Billie actually does well in pure sales for the currently sales environment. She's one of the few artists who does well on vinyl sales and even streams.

I just think the performance of her latest album should serve as the benchmark for the performance of future albums. She'll never match the success of her debut album but she'll still have a loyal fanbase that supports her when it's time to tour.

The fact that she's selling out arenas at 19 is crazy. She'll be okay.

If she did, it's not reflecting in the performance of her music. All she does is get more likes on her sexy pics now. That's it.

Also, can't be too quick to crown Olivia. She had a massive debut album era but so did Lorde and Billie Eilish and those eras were their commercial peaks. I don't wish it on her but there's a chance the same thing happens to Olivia.

🤔🤔 I don't know how many pop artists have come out of sophomore slump commercially but idk I'd probably start counting her out if her next album sells worse than this one.

It's still possible for her to get back imo.

    Such an interesting topic

  • Oct 25, 2021

TBH the production on this album compared to the debut was weak af imo
