thread doing the old "Blacks back to Africa" thing white supremacists used to support but woke

US tried buying land in Africa to send all the ex-slaves to for free. It's called Liberia. The few that did go recreated the plantation system with native Africans and enslaved them until the 1980s.

Japan is one of the most xenophobic countries in the world

I'm white but got turned away from Japanese bars a few times when I lived there. some of my black friends had s***ty experiences with racism there too. very safe and peaceful country and can be a great place to live but they don't like foreigners much

you'll get strange looks sometimes and most Japanese people would never date a foreigner

despite all that I think it's still a cool country to move to

    Appreciate the knowledge heavy

those places don't serve any foreigner, it's not just specifically black people and it's pretty rare to come across those places especially in the major cities. plenty of black folk living and thriving in japan.

ive lived and travelled to multiple countries and no country in this world has the amount of ratchet people yelling and arguing in public than the US at a typical coffee shop. U can def assimilate in most countries if u are somewhat like them in culture and can behave/dont lose your cool. loudness is the thing ive noticed the most with cultural acceptance

We all Gaijin to them but you know

    he heard

    ya this basically

most of the gaijin problems are overcomeable if you speak japanese anyway

half the time the reason most people don't want to deal with you is because they can't communicate with you

some things don't go away tho like housing discrimination ect but it's not impossible to get over

I thought those spots didn't serve anyone that couldn't speak Japanese

So even if you got fluent you couldn't hit those spots

ya but like Malcolm said it's extremely rare and not reflective of your overall experience in the country lol

  • Jun 6, 2022

but also I think a lot of people in this thread enjoy the idea of Japan but don't actually realize there are social hurdles that can make life difficult to live even if the country is much safer.

if you don't speak japanese you'll definitely never fit in and even if you do you probably still won't ever fit in, but it'll be easier to make good friends

you will always be a foreigner to everyone else, which isn't actually the worst thing in the world for the most part, it's just important to understand you aren't one of "them" which can be a benefit or a detriment to you.

there's a limit to the amount of jobs you can work without fluent japanese skills, ect.

the xenophobia is "bad" but like the worst thing thats happened to me is being told "SHUT UP NO ENGLISH!" in the middle of the street and i just continued on talking and nothing happened lol

unparalleled amount of dumb ass energy from yours

dead if you think america isn't the best country for pretty much every race. regardless of it's faults it's still the most diverse and most accepting of other cultures on earth

"Most accepting of other cultures on Earth"

If an individual black American wants to live in Africa they have every right, setting up an entire nation is a different story, but it's unfair to denounce that wish as similar to white people saying go back to Africa imo

  • Jun 6, 2022

Yall so naive to think that we won't be discriminated against in Africa. Africans don't really f*** with us like that either. We're not "real" Africans to them. We're gonna face prejudice wherever we go.

I’ve been to a few European countries, and when I was in the military I went to Egypt, Afghanistan, and a couple states across the US. I can’t see my self living anywhere else but the south. I love it and it’s my home

How about we collectively use that money and found a sovereign state on an island somewhere, make us a homeland with duel citizenship

We already tried that. It's called Liberia

    No. Because they actually escaped.

Liberia's mistake was doing business with america again i.e Firestone and Goodyear

We have a crib there bc we turkish but the hotels got great and cheap resorts

The turkish currency got bad inflation too rn so it's very cheap for dollar and euro currencies

Tell me more about Turkey ma boi

Been seriously considering taking a trip there now. Seems affordable and like a great place to explore. What are your thoughts on starting in Istanbul and then maybe taking a day trip (or overnight) to Alanya or Fethiye?
