I love them both but they might have dropped their magnum opus with this one. Both albums are a fascinatingly intimate depiction of Isaac's inner turmoil but while for the first time felt like a panic-fueled claustrophobic mess this one is much more ornate and artful. I think what allows this album to be more sonically gorgeous is Isaac's personal growth. The vulnerability in his tone is still there but rather than being driven by self-loathing he's more of a hopeless romantic on this one. I'd say unlike their debut this album allows you to find comfort in its melancholy. There's so much beauty and warmth in this, it's unlikely that we'll experience anything quite like this for the rest of the year.
Perfectly said man. This feels much more cathartic and emotionally impactful than For The First Time and that's saying something.
It's a trip. Been a while since an album left me with this impression on first listen
Blade is one of my early favorites musically, i'm gonna need some time with the lyrics but Isaac sounds great all over this album
the outro on Basketball Shoes
yeah this is pretty great man i like this significantly more than the debut. Concorde still my favorite song only because I've lived with it for a while but I can play this whole thing. didn't dislike a single track
they say in a couple new interviews they'll be switching off vocal duties now, but it'll mostly be Tyler their female bassist. i was just thinking earlier a female vocalist is their best bet, it'll be really difficult to replace Isaac at this point
they also say they're not performing any songs from the first two albums out of respect for Isaac. makes sense
i liked their first album but it felt like they had something grander, hookier, and more accessible in them and i feel like they delivered that here
ngl Isaac ruined FTFT for me but imo he makes this one amazing and now I'm bummed he's leaving
also chaos space marine after the intro recontextualizes it and i like it a lot more than i did as a single
its already too late
i think they will still do well without isaac, tho a part of me still believes hes gonna come back in some way

they are all super talented so i can def see it
its just a bummer to think that many ‘isaac era’ tunes might not get played live, or at least will sound very different from now on
an eventual return would be the most ideal outcome, hopefully he gets better soon

damn they already have new stuff ready to go?
thats actually mad. 2 albums in 1 year, biggest contributor to songwriting leaves and they still have new music to fall back on. would love to see them succeed in this new format, this album is amazing but it still feels like theyre only getting started to me
feeling like this the most hyped non hip hop album since Fetch the Bolt Cutters based on initial acclaim
