why the f*** is this happening?
    This isn’t what we wanted.

    S*** is so stupid man

It’s so obvious they’re just doing it because they think they’ll be able to avoid criticism, but if it was actually about values they would take down episodes which are insensitive in other ways

But they definitely should NOT do that either cause it’s clearly satire for comedic purposes

This a psyop to make BLM look like its overstepping bounds.

They removed an episode of Golden Girls off streaming for having a mud mask. This is absurd

Facts. I'd be surprised if any of these companies consulted any black people before removing these episodes, or even broaching the topic

You guys keep talking about companies like the show creators and actors involved might not want this s*** on them either

There's a couple other episodes on Scrubs were characters black face up to look like Turk , and the show creator is the one who asked for them all to be taken down

they don’t get to take it down because they regretted their joke.

It should up for public consumerism regardless.

The guy said it's his show so if he wants to take it down that's what he's going to do . Also said he can't access an editing studio or anything right now bc of Corona so that's the action he wants to take

It's people involved that don't want to be associated with s*** like this as much as companies protecting their PR. I mean maybe it's PR for the people too but Scrubs literally got people black facing up every Halloween because they see the show do it. There is a knock on effect to this s*** that you have to remember

Has Dan Harmon made a statement? I can't believe they took that episode down lmao

do you recall the "gingerbread man" controversy in the UK? a very similar thing to this happened there, they acted as though NB people wanted the gingerbread man to be made genderfluid, lots of news media picked this up and it led to a whole lot of trans and queerphobia

in reality nobody in the LGBTQ+ community was asking for these changes, we however suffered the backlash for it

when picked up by media it will seem as though this the result of (as you said) of those marginalised groups having absurd demands which obviously is not the case

This what they should be doing

  • Jun 29, 2020

I would rather just leave those episode where they are. I understand removing them for sensitivity purposes, but I don’t know if that’s what’s happening here.

Are we doing it to promote better images of black people or are we doing it to protect the fragile egos and careers of people in Hollywood?

If there is a show that did black face, then I think that show should have to live with that decision regardless of what year that was. And if the appearance of black face on a show you like sours you on that show, well then maybe that’s a good thing.

I think it’s important to acknowledge that these things happened and are still happening. If we only think of black face as cheap entertainment from 70 years ago and try to deny its prevalence in every decade in the history of American entertainment leading up to ours right now, then I think we’re doing ourselves a disservice.

Racism changes and evolves. Attitudes change and people change. We most acknowledge all those things. Once we do that, then maybe we can actually self reflect and learn.

They even removed the Nate scene from the office season 9 Xmas episode smh
