Rolling with afro/braids atm. cut my locs off a while back but they weren't as long as yours.
I've tried a decent amount of oils & product, but currently I've found that olive & coconut oil work with my hair the best. I've got some pretty dry ass 4c hair but I've found that using light product has helped & keeps it well moisturized for long periods of time. Shampoos & those heavy leave in conditioners left a lot of buildup in the past, but as it is right now I've got a nice little routine with a semi-regular coconut oil leave in conditioner, occasionally switch it up for the olive oil gel, & use shampoo roughly every 1.5-2 weeks. My girl braids my hair maybe once a month or two and she never points out any buildup in my hair.
I don't really understand hair that well, my girlfriend teaches me a lot honestly, but for the most part I think it just requires some trial-and-error since everyone's hair interacts with product differently. I'd definitely experiment with some lighter products/oil & avoid heat too.

Yeah looks good
U wonโt see results immediately so donโt try to force it, youโll see them start dreading over the next few months just donโt comb and keep it going

Bet thanks
And if I started it with a light towel rub shouldnโt I continue to do it once a day till it locks up? Or we just deadass not touching it no more whatsoever lmao

You can continue it if you want to get the curling pattern started but it will eventually start combining on its own and doing its own thing so if you stop theres no issue
For my first set of freeforms I used the sponge but eventually stopped and preferred it cause it allowed my hair to just go in whatever direction it wanted instead of controlling it with a sponge. And for my second set (The ones itt) I just let them rock and I like em
Retwisted my hair noticing some flakes, any recommendations moisturizer or shampoo that wont leave build up? Don't think my rose water and vitamin e oil is cutting it any more
