yasiin’s verse on yonders kinda sounds like a kanye verse in a way
a very good one at that
It's weird sometimes they sound similar. Kanye on the new push kinda sounds like most def.
Y’all really just letting all the poetry Mos saying on this album just fly right past you huh?
It’s like niggas just missing the whole message of the album entirely by immediately processing every verse within the context of some sort of competition the artist themselves probably had no intention of competing in

Delivery matters, it’s not all about what you say but how it’s said.
it’s kinda funny how this album was just done backstage at dave chappelle shows primarily

I thought Mos did a great job but I expected him to so maybe Talib just surprised me more idk lol I do wish Mos had his own solo track on here considering Kweli got one
this on apple? i cant find it
only on Luminary (or can find it on youtube until those links get taken down)
Is the explicit version available somewhere?
don't believe so this is the only version available at this time
Bruh idk what the f*** u downloaded but it was not the link in op
Out here downloading BLACKED Star by accident bruh
I’d buy a vinyl without a thought, probably even a digital copy, but I’m not about to subscribe to something for 1 album
great album though, but the release is such a stupid idea, pushes people into piracy

id cop the vinyl instantly, really hoping theres a physical release at some point but who knows
on his medicine shows tapes and some other beat tapes
thing is madlib got so much material and it is impossible to locate everything but i swear i heard all those beats before....
for me this is not real album , yeah madlib did that before , but i hoped that after 25 years black star can make at least solid album
this sounds rushed.
This s*** is really good tho

Dilla and Doom did it too, those Madlib things are just officially released beat tapes, they can still be used. Don’t make it not a real album or MM Food ain’t a real album either

it’s really common to see madlib or dilla reuse beats they’ve already put out i mean kendrick used sort from knx and did a few tweaks but it was essentially the same beat

Yeah and the Momma beat was out of course
Like I said, the beats are barely even being “reused”, they were released on beat tapes which part of the purpose is for rappers to hear them and pick them but they just ended up releasing the beat tapes commercially to make some money off the work. Really it’s not “used” until a rapper uses it tho

also why complain it’ll put money in their pockets and if you like the beat then what’s the issue

Yeah, plus old Madlib beats are arguably better than new ones

a lot of people complain about the new ones sounding too polished because he makes them on an ipad

I'm sure Mos Def has written and made reference tracks for Kanye before. That aside him and Kanye been working together since like the mid 2000s, and Mos Def was signed to GOOD Music at one point. Very close relationship, and I'm sure their rapping styles and writing methods have rubbed off on one another many times.
