"it's WAY more easy to find a soul sample' "chop" a 8 bar loop"
It‘s not easy to find a good sample tho. Madlib & Alchemist beats are easy to make. I think Madlib even said if you take too long/ if it ain‘t easy to make it‘s probably wack. But still most producers don‘t come close to their production. There are so many producers who are good at making own melodies but when it comes to sampling they produce garbage. SIMPLE doesn‘t mean everybody can do it. Fitness is simple. Train 3-4x a week. Stay in a caloric deficit. Sleep well. Progessive overload. Why can‘t everybody do it then?
im not sure if i would consider crate digging a skill
its more like how much time u put into it
madlib is forever goated though dont get me wrong

???
crate digging is both a skill & a taste, & how does one develop skill & taste? over time with repetition
idk why you're phrasing it like skill & time investment are mutually exclusive

u can spend time searching through dusty vinyls, record shops, etc
choosing a 10/10 sample, then do nothing interesting with it
i see people do it all the time

absolutely, ive definitely heard great samples utilized poorly so i know where ur coming from regarding that, but i think that poor utilization would be due to someones producing skill not their digging skill
in videogame terms they dumped their stats into their digging skill but producing skill is underleveled

yeah i guess if u put it that way it makes sense
i just think u either got taste or not
theres no "skill" to picking good samples
as a lofi//boombap producer there are absolutely tons of lazy beatmakers throughout the style, though that goes for any style or genre of course & isnt exclusive to boom bap.
&considering the relative lack of commercial popularity compared to trap means that there are far less mid//garbage boom bap producers than there are mid//garb trap producers. & i'd also wager the ratio of trash to good is lower in boom bap compared to trap due to that difference in popularity

taste develops like anything else, otherwise we'd still only like what we liked at 5 years old & dislike everything we didnt
I don’t think any style of production is inherently better or worse, but they all have “easy outs” that bring the quality of the beats produced down a bit I would say
op makes much more sense when you consider this what he smoking
