Also this didn’t feel long at all. When the intermission popped up I said “wait we’re halfway already??”
And then when the epilogue popped up I said “wait that’s it??? It’s about to be over??”

And then he disappears and it becomes about finding Guys character. Idk if just felt like a weird switch and then we finally see Lazlo again in the epilogue years later

I was more wondering “where’s felicity is she ok?” (Because we don’t see her again after she got dragged) and also “where tf is Lazlo?!”

Second half of the movie at some point feels merely like events zooming by rather than an actual story with meaningful characters development or introspection.

I’m gonna be in the minority here but I did not vibe with this movie. The first half, incredible, honestly if it was a stand alone film it would be 5 stars. When we return from intermission, that’s where things go wrong. The introduction of Felicity Jones’ character turns this movie into a downer of sorts. Like she signals the downfall when being so portrayed as the will of his life in the first half. I don’t know, just a little disappointed here.

Also I think when they said the two people got injured and hospitalized they should’ve shown that s\*\*\* go down, or instead did a scene of the men working and someone getting brutally injured and make a big set piece outta it. Sorta like the big explosion scene on TWBB when the son lost his hearing. I don’t really like the whole characters just talking about it “oh some s\*\*\* happened and some people got hurt” and then Guys character freaks out and starts firing everyone. It could’ve been a good scene to add to the 2nd half to keep the momentum going

ending seems to be divisive everywhere I look, but the best interpretation I saw was that even in seeking better treatment in Israel, the “home”, he is now left a shell of a man. He’s bound to a wheelchair like his wife, he has no voice, and his work is given a different meaning from his niece to push forward Zionism, even though he himself never entertained the idea that Israel was the end all be all. Even the theme we hear at the beginning with the Statue of Liberty and throughout, it sounds very commercialized in the epilogue. I saw it that his American dream was no longer his. I think had it ended right before the epilogue it would’ve stuck the landing way more. But hey, can’t complain if 90% of the movie worked for me outside of that
