Which again, why I understand people who don’t want to support the band. it’s pretty gross. But I don’t know, it feels like he genuinely changed and rehabilitated, but maybe I’m just making excuses
For what it's worth, I wouldn't be able to support them if this was the case so I went down a rabbit hole and although there's no way to know with 100% certainty, it seems very unlikely.
Everything stemmed from a Facebook post from Brian Diaz, a former guitar tech for Brand New, asking “So while we are on the topic of outing famous and semi-famous creeps, anyone want to speak up about Jesse Lacey from Brand New?”
The first accuser, Nicole, never even provided any concrete evidence that she and Lacey even had any contact (part of her "proof" was literally just a promotional email letting fans know Daisy was coming out), there were contradictions in her story when lined up with what she'd post online, and if you look at her journals and online posts she has made over the years it's obvious she's mentally ill (I don't mean this in a derogatory sense, but legitimately).
The second accuser, Emily, was Jesse's ex that was of age during their relationship, traveled with them as a band photographer and even released a picture book of them against their wishes. She leaked Jesse's nudes from a video call at some point on a revenge p*** site and when she made her accusations the images were rereleased but with her smiling face conveniently cropped out. The consensus is that she was upset Jesse got married.
It's worth noting that Brian Diaz and Derrick Sherman (touring member of Brand New) were friends before Brand New as they were both in The Reunion Show, and there were rumors that Derrick's fiancé cheated on him with Jesse and that's why he left Brand New in 2013 (and subsequently that's around when Jesse started seeking help).
Brian Diaz also actually met Nicole when she was 15 and they kept in touch. But after his Facebook post and people started digging around he delete all the tweets and stuff where he interacted with her.
To add to Brian's questionability, he also worked for Fall Out Boy, and was silent or did nothing when they were accused of grooming/sleeping with underage fans.
