That's not how that works lol Switch can't output 4k. Hardware can't do it.
I know that lol I’m replying to a guy who was playing it on PC at 4k
Finally defeated Ganon’s b**** ass and completed main story in botw. I think I over prepared because I had the hylian shield, master sword, lvl 3 armour, and stocked up on ancient weapons lol
Same, I grinded out lynels to get level 3 barbarian armor. Had like 6-7 lynel bows, plus like 60 ancient arrows. S*** was a breeze.

I am the guy playing it in 4k on PC. It looks like s*** on Switch. Looks infinitely better on PC (I have both; played on both).

Why would you reply so weirdly if you’re the guy I was talking to

“ That's not how that works lol Switch can't output 4k. Hardware can't do it.”
not sure what you thought you were saying here
I was talking about the 4k pc version, I know Switch can’t do 4k, that was kind of the crux of my point. The 4k pc version is just the 1080p switch version but upscaled, it can’t natively run at 4k because it’s built for switch. Native 4k vs upscaled 4k is a huge difference.
As to your point about it “looking infinitely better” yeah it definitely looks better on newer hardware, that’s kind of a boiler plate statement.

It's not upscaled. That would be transcoding. You'd lose quality if you were to do that. The same principle applies if you take a 720p picture and scale it up, it doesn't add detail, it makes it worse. This isn't that.
And it can't look better simply because it's on newer hardware lol. The Switch is limiting the output of the assets. That's essentially it.

Nah that’s how it works even on modern consoles. It natively runs the game at like 1440p or something and then upscales it to 4k or 2160p. It looks great. Not as great as native 4k though.
Same principle on pc
There’s no way to just change the resolution to 4k on pc because it’s just a leaked version of the switch software, which was never meant to run natively at 4k

yea idk if i over prepared too but i’d say he was the easiest boss in the game
especially when you retake all 4 divine beasts
wild lynels were more difficult
Either way, enjoy the 720p. Doesn't make me any difference. Great game.
Also even on pc it’s still the 1080p textures from the switch version, it’s not like somebody remade all the textures for pc lol

If it were 720p, everything would be blurry.
I just explained the concept. Stay mad.

Yeah you definitely don’t understand how this works…
There’s not 4k textures hidden somewhere in the totk files. 4k is just the resolution you’re running the game at, it doesn’t create new texture files

Take a 720p picture and try to scale it up. Tell me what happens.

You’re kind of proving my point. You can make the game run at 4k but that doesn’t change the textures. That’s why you need to download a 4k texture pack for older games that got 4k support, like Skyrim
Anyone else think this game kinda is just a rip off of bad piggies?

They trying to cook you in this thread but you’re right. I’ve played both versions. It’s not the textures scaled up to 4k that’s really bad, I could care less. It’s the aliasing / shadow aliasing that is f***ing killer. It looks so bad and pixelated. There is literally 0 aliasing being processed by the switch so everything looks blurry

You’re right, he’s not lol. On PC you can turn up anti-aliasing, which will make it look better than switch, it has nothing to do with resolution. Dude doesn’t really understand what he’s saying.

He's trying and missing. And same. I've played it on both. People will just blindly defend whatever it is they have, regardless of it being objectively wrong.

Imma just stick to the switch version. Honestly got used to it by now
30 fps honestly is playable and fine. Just takes adjusting to, 60 is preferable of course but I can deal with 30.
Just hoping a switch 2 and enhanced version of this game comes out and saves can transfer over

Only reason I'd do the Switch version is for the handheld.
Also, inb4 the 4k 'Remaster' version in a year or 2 with no asset changes at all.
