keep in mind that hylians and other races don't have internet or social media (only that rather fresh newspaper and word of mouth) and that this probably plays years later after BOTW (see Purah) so they don't recognize him instantly (Zelda has an entirely different status and simply looks different). After all, many people actually recognize him but not necessarily the less involved people which makes sense imo. Then again, I find the distinction between Malice and gloom kinda weird.

My favorite acknowledgement of BOTW is that stone tablet near Hyrule Castle.
