dragons tears quest was truly brilliant. overall the twist in the final memory and Zelda basically sacrificing herself and the weight of thinking you’re “losing yourself”/never coming back and shedding a tear that spreads across the kingdom is so f\*\*\*ed up but poetic, and ultimately makes this best main story of any Zelda game imo
Late game depths/enemy spoiler
Ran into Gohma while looking for the Laranyu mine. Low health and supplies but said f\*\*\* it. So much more fun the second time using recall/ascend strats instead of using Yunobo. Really looking forward to the other rematches and doing them solo. Nice touch also giving them weapon drops.
I’ve been seeing TikTok’s of some of the creations people make in this game and it’s amazing. I attached two boards together and thought I was a f***in carpenter, meanwhile some guy made a bomber jet

Saw someone make a functioning forklift
meanwhile us zelda fans over here like “i flew on a bird today
”
I have spent 40 hours in the game
And I have only done Rito in the main story. I have found so many mini-games, side content and shrines that could easily pass as the main game quest. I am now currently trying to find new clothes for Link.... THIS GAME IS HUGE.
I legit became a news reporter then spent 2 FULL DAYS in the snow doing the caves, side quests and looking for stuff. There is so much to do....
When developers care and have ambition the sky is the limit. These devs are the definition of lazy and greedy.

Some of these contraptions are unreal lmao. I saw one that reminded me of a giant mechanical suit, it was even swinging a log in each hand. Amazing.
How are we sitting on this vs BotW?
I'd say I definitely prefer TotK, the new powers and depth of the open world are just unbelievable
There are a few things that BotW did better tho imo, there are more moments here where the player's control is taken away from them (start of descent from being fired out of lookout tower, screen going black after a lot of side missions etc), which didn't happen as much in BotW, and I prefer the aesthetics of the shrines in the first game
Overall though, imo they've actually managed to improve upon a game that was already impossibly good, crazy, probably a dead horse at this point but it keeps on shocking me, I'd straight-up recommend new players skip BotW and go straight to this, it'd probably blow their minds wide open

I made a tank out of wood, it lasted for 5 seconds before exploding itself

I think botw still holds up very well it was pretty much perfect bexause of how simple it was
Totk expends on pretty much everything in a great way but the scale being that much bigger also comes with some problems imo, my main issue is the same as the one you pointed out, this game definitely wants you to do some things in a certain way and it kinda goes against the whole idea behind the formula

I agree! There are definitely things like the Hudson construction materials sites that feel a bit railroad-y, BotW offered freedom in a more uncomplicated way that was a bit less game-y, but here it's more that if you master the tools they've given you, you can borderline break the game
In some situations I've found that this makes frankensteining your own solutions more satisfying, like 'Oh you want me to make a boat? Well what if I made a disgustingly long bridge instead?'

Yeah I'd say the game design is a bit less subtle and definitely more gamey which isn't that much of an issue in a video game anyway, i feel in botw u were always fighting against the environment to progress but in this one you're making it your b**** with how much options you have
One of my main issues with this game is that the list of favorite builds you can have in autobuild is so small it's annoying

Glad I’m not the only one that thinks this
Seen so many takes that say TOTK makes BOTW irrelevant
And I don’t think so. I feel like both games stand on their own uniquely

I just thought about this yesterday when I was tryina build some crazy mech. I can only favourite 8 builds? That ain't much.
