were in a pretty bad position where the govt and those in power have too much power and vested interest in the money behind all these corporations to actually force change, while 80+% of the population is too ignorant, selfish, or short-sighted to make change in their consumption habits. if the govt isn't going to do anything then the people have to vote with their wallets and that wont happen so here we are...
The businesses and govt have literally conditioned and encourage the habit for the sake of productivity, money and national economy. They dont or take a long time to provide an alternative.
Not to mention all the false info and manipulation they do on purpose that is somehow still within legal bounds, like what the sugar industry & "organic" industry does.
And our habits as citizens is only a fraction of them.
Its on them. From producing to conditioning to manipulating.
Theyre even doing the same thing AGAIN to what was suppose to be the alt better solutions, such as how they mined for resources for electric car batteries etc.
They're literally being excessive for excess sake. Even oil. America didnt decide to fight for bigger oil, the govt did for their own plans n usage and exapnding industry when people themselves were good already.
Lets not even get into how the military eats most of it up as well compared to most things even other industries.
Blaming & guilting environmental issues on the citizens themselves was the biggest trick business has ever done
I love the heat too (grew up inna desert) but y'all are tripping. Places on the earth are already hitting temperatures so hot and humid that sitting in the shade a human cannot cool itself and will literally overheat and die. Imagine a densely populated city gets hits with a heatwave of these temperatures for 4 days and the power goes out because of the increase in energy usage. Thousands or even millions will die.

Come to AZ where the summer is regular from 113 to 121 every year.

im not saying its entirely the peoples fault, it isnt. im saying if we can't rely on the govt and power to do anything then the people have to step up. i dont see any other way
only happen when the corporations see profitability in it which to be honest should be pretty soon considering they're going to get burnt alive with the rest of us
It wasn't supposed to ramp up like this for a couple more decades. Lytton only a few hours north of me we were supposed to be good up here

Absolutely correct.
However I'm of two minds on this. Well, a mind and a half i guess because big biz is really at the bottom of all of it.
But anyway on to my rant. The abdication of personal responsibility that has been rampant ever since the industrial revolution makes me so mad. People throw litter everywhere, they don't care where their food comes from or how their clothes got to them. It's sickening to be honest. Something's broke? Don't repair it, throw it away! Everything is "someone else's problem".
Well, it's the end of the line and it turns out it's your problem. And my problem. The fate of our entire species hangs in the balance and while corporations and governments are well and truly to blame, i still think people have a part to play in it.
If people used the internet to organize a global general strike things could be very very different. But i just don't see that happening.

With climate change/collapse it's always faster than expected. That's the r/collapse motto lmfaoooo.

which really at that point its on the government and the EPA to invest more resources into solar/wind power so those energies can become viable and eventually profitable for corporations.

The EROI (energy return on investment) of every other method of energy creation/distribution cannot help us. If you have an hour to spend and become doomwoke heres a good video on it titled How To Enjoy The End Of The World lol

I know but this is still too fast

Well it's only gonna accelerate

You'd think having breathable air for the rest of the century would be enough but no it has to be profitable as well
God's chosen people are supposed to know all things. That kinda smarmy response isn't leadership behavior sir. We have the power to change the world on ktt2, we just have to help eachother with every thread we build.
the leadership is taking place with the people who are creating technology to solve the problem not create panic

Tech got us into this mess. It will not get us out.

Def agree.
I just hate it when its put onto a regular person thing when its the industry not only producing the most, but also conditioning and LEGALLY putting out false information even on a govt level. Its even part of the buisness plan too to divert attention onto the consumers themselves.
I agree tho, groundlevel still matters too.
