Tupac Shakur VIBE Interview

Have you read the Vibe interview? I thought the whole Tupac story was best
summed up by Tupac himself...
"this thug life stuff, it was just ignorance"
----Tupac Skakur
Tupac demonstrates a "problem" that exhist with today's hip/hop
generation/culture: ---->not being able to separate the "character", the
"role" that's portrayed on CD/Film from real life. Ice Cube, Snoop, Method
Man, etc. are all "characters" and people (sometimes the artist themeselves)
fail to keep this in perspective, as Tupac did.
The problem is everyone from government legislators to grade school kids
(and the artists themeselves) make the mistake of perceiving rap/rappers as
something more than entertainers. Parents/Guardians are responsible for how
they're children perceive rap/rappers and artist, and legislators have no
excuse.
I hope that the people behind these characters are decent responsible
people. "ScarFace" is no different than "Jason" (Friday 13th) or Hulk Hogan
(WWF)...a character....who you should not empower to be a spokesperson, a
target to be banned, or anything else in real life. They're entertainers.
Tupac's "excuse" for not being a responsible person is that he was smoking
too much weed, drinking too much alcohol, and haning out with too many
thugs. It's sad that some rappers have to learn the hard way that you
cannot take your "character" and your character's behavior as a realistic
way to live in this world. Tupac's in Jail, Dr. Dre's about to do his
time....and Snoop may well learn the "hard way" next. What's real?
certainly not these "characters"......and these artist themselves,
legislators, and parents of imressionable children should also keep this in
mind.

Ah hell yeah ty
Gonna see what i can dig up when im on downtime today
Wheres the threads s***ting on Nas
They s***ting on Diddy and Snoop off rip so i know it exists in there lmao
Man
Mannn lol
Im never down with blaming the products that spawn from a much bigger issue and picture, but he was ahead of the curve in some ways
Especially with telling people to basically seperate art from the artist and dont let fantasy invade reality

I don't dig on any west coast, but I'm from the east and I think that alot
of Bad Boy s*** is too materialistic and wack. Quit riding the old
stuff...
I think Jeru has the right idea, but that's my opinion.
Whatever happened to Jeru the Damaja ?
He got paranoid and wouldnt leave the house after like his 2nd album
Im not joking
Look up on youtube "behind the song: Come Clean"
It was an official series by like Vice or Vox or sumn where they would do info and background knowledge about a Rappers popular (mainstream or street) song and give some tidbits about the rapper as well. They had industry and sometimes the artist themselves on the episodes too.
Good series, but yeah, they explain Jeru literally wouldnt come out the house no more.
Imagine you used rap forums in the 90’s and once ktt1 rolled around you decided to make a nice jump over since Kanye in the 00’s was such a legend and now you’ve been on KTT for almost 2 decades and you’re seeing your original rap forum posts being dug up and posted for humor

Its crazy that these dudes if they was in their twenties held disco almost in the same regard as rap lol
Disco & Funk are the predecessors to Rap and the three major genres for young niggas of the time
Disco and Funk even did Rap s*** before Rap such as diss records (Reggae also did diss records lmao) & rhyming but "not singing" plus using street lingo & references
Its where you get the muddled 70s history of Rap because there wasnt a true transition or "box" until commerical Rap of the 80s happened, & why of the 70s you have little instances of "Rap" also being in the West and South before the NY boom and solidifying "Rap" with the popular Kool Herc parties - which is part of why the styles are different, especially South
But anyways, "white roller skate disco" is considered the death of "real disco" and is different

Theres still some people here from the klive days.
And back on ktt1 there was some people that used to post further back on Kanye's personal fansite blog-thing where Kanye would also post on and give updates and had a "talent section" where they would post curated rap songs and videos the mods thought was cool, which is where CyHi happened - theyre not on ktt2 tho (i think), but a lot of those guys were around for a LONG MINUTE.
Personally, im from KTT1. Lurked a lil before yeezus happened and found them by looking up "unknown GOOD Fridays tracks" (which were hard af to find back then and ktt1 had a dope comp folder full of good fridays tracks, feats of the era & lesser know label songs). I then became a member with the lead up to TPAB & Rodeo with the occasional post, then became a constant posting member with the lead up to TLOP.
Shout out class of 2014 High School.
