What made this change come about

My favorite Ka album is Days With Yen Lo, and post-that he's been incredibly, incredibly consistent, never bad. But woods has advanced his game with each post-Hiding Places release, and his writing is frankly sharper than Ka's.

Ka relies really heavily on 2-3 specific ways to structure a line or flip a phrase to make a punchline (made up example: "never crossed the streets, even when, I had the right of way. Looked to the skies and knew my reign, would be a brighter day"). That's not a knock against him, he's a poet and thats what poets do. But I don't feel like woods is constrained in a similar way with his writing

Going to keep it in mind as I think about Ka's pen and spend more time with Woods' discography

If you haven't dug into Aethiopes yet, highly highly recommended to do so - it's the best of the 2 albums he put out this year and showcases his preternatural ability to write as a tortured everyman figure, sorta like a rap game Paul Schrader
