Can this win him a Grammy?
Probably, the only reason AG didn't win him the grammy was because Angelique Kidjo's album came out around that time which was more acceptable to the grammy committee of their "vision" of African music.
This album sounds a lot like something she would make along with some American tinch production to the mix. I still prefer AG over this tbh. But so far this year there's no real competition in the World Music category in terms of quality albums released, he's got this one easily.
Gonna be another case of Grammys being late by one album
Same s*** happened with Tpab and Damn
This s*** is super ass. Doesn’t even sound like Afrobeats anymore. You can tell he’s tryna go pop smh
It’s iight. It’ll probably grow on me. I don’t like the Americanized direction tbh. There’s no need to water it down. I don’t think Diddy “ruined” it by any means, but it is reminiscent of an early 00s attempt to make different foreign genres of music more accessible to Americans.
I hope the crossover attempt works and I hope he goes back to his sound on Outside & AG
Production was average. You're not topping African Giant and Outside with that type of production. Underwhelming album so far and I think the production is the main reason for this
Its because there isnt any production from his main producer Kel P who produced almost all of African Giant
Im a HUGE burna fan and this album PISSED ME THE F*** OFF. Im going on a rant bcus f*** it why not
First off I Wanna say AG grew on me A LOT after it dropped so Im hoping this one does the same.
1. Diddy should have been NOWHERE NEAR this album, just hearing his voice completely throws off the vibe of this album, he hasnt been apart of anything good musically since 1999, F*** him for Americanizing/watering down the africaness of this album
2. The production is sooooo bland compared to African Giant, (which was honestly a 11/10 album). And its probably because Kel P who produced 70% Of African Giant yet does not have ONE song on this album.
3. The features on this album were so WACK on this. Naughty by Nature on a 2020 Afrobeat album is the dumbest idea ever. And why the f*** is he talking about colonialism, racism, and discrimination on a song with f***ing Chris Martin
4. He's clearly pissed he didn't win the grammy (which he deserved) so He's going for a more pop sound and incorpoarting western sounds into it to make it more appealing to the pop world.
After a few listens I can honestly not more than maybe two songs i'm going back to.
I hope the crossover attempt works and I hope he goes back to his sound on Outside & AG
If it works he wont go back that's a proven stat in music. I hope he lies flat on his face and he realizes fans dont want this s***, they want african giant and outside type music.

Yea nah. I don’t want him to fail necessarily but. I don’t want him to have success making this watered down music. If he sees it’ll work he’ll more than likely just keep doing it

@Skrilla yeah those are the odds...
but failed compromised crossover attempts leave artists in shambles. Some get it back like Skepta did but a lot don’t...
That's probably the point of the album. AG didn't win him the Grammy he was robbed of because it didn't sound like stereotypical African theme white people like to imagine. This album's change in direction is probably meant to help him win this time.
hope he doesnt win now
