Basically raw intellectualism without the capacity for empathy.
Preachy I guess would be the closest singular descriptor.
In terms of abstractions and the prominence of symbolic/metaphorical content, I think intended audience should be held in consideration for that.
If you wanna make a film intended to open the minds of your average person, you could still dabble in that, but you’ll also need to have some degree of palatable conventions in place to appeal to that audience, otherwise they won’t give a s*** and if they don’t give a s*** they won’t be invested.
You gotta make your films engaging on a multitude of levels to achieve that, it can’t be just through subtext.
