For instance a Yorgos Lanthimos films are cold and disturbing but there's a lot of deadpan line delivery that totally works for me. Also most Lynch stuff is on the mystery/psychological horror side of things but there's still plenty to laugh at for me because of characters acting totally surreal

Maybe you should watch it, I think many people are missing the point, Shyamalan doesn't try to play someone else's piece and missing the notes, he plays his own and hits every bit right.

i just know from past experiences that i don't fw dudes workI watched Unbreakeable, and I think it's fine. Split was entertaining, Old was hilarious, and Glass well I've almost fall asleep
