Wouldn't be able to, my type of humor is more present in films where it's not a leading factor, but rather part of the product. Full blown comedies rarely hit like that or turn out to be something that holds up on rewatches

Only director that consistently makes comedies i enjoy (and even he has some serious misses) is Quentin Dupieux. I especially really laughed a lot while watching Mandibules, Deerskin & Realité

A recent one i like is Nice Guys with Gosling by Shane Black (i don't like his other work at all though), i like both Borat films, i enjoy the Truman Show but it's more so charming than laugh out loud funny

Terry Gilliam always makes films that make me smile too. And i almost forgot King Of Comedy by Scorsese. One of my favs!! Older stuff i appreciate Jaques Tati

But in general, i prefer darker stuff mixed in with (deadpan, weird) humor. The humor in a Lynch, Lanthimos or Miike film is what really hits for me because they are mere elements that make the whole product better.. and those are def not full blown comedies

You're being inconsequent rn, but i guess something like humor couldn't be more subjective

I know you will die on the hill of your fav directors same way i would a Noé... but really... Big Lebowski is one of the most unfunny comedies i have ever seen

If i didn't reset my expectations the first time and decided that i wasn't gonna view it as a comedy i would have walked away HATING it

@Elric i just can't enjoy the stoner archetype at all... i also hated The Beach Bum as a comedy

That film would have been atrocious if it wasn't for Benoit Debie single handedly saving that film with his eye for cinematography and color grading

I'm definitely not out here defending Beach Bum

Lebowski low-key playing noir detective archetype
