Stop repeating right wing talking points
It’s not a right wing talking point necessarily. I’m on the left and there’s valid arguments as to how Hollywood producers interpret social media reactions as a negative effect on their products. A larger problem is the death of the mid budget film in the mainstream. The only things making money now are cheap horror films or massive blockbusters. That being said, the perceived shifts in culture are influencing producers decisions. Bill Burr recently talked about this. He’s said he’s talked to Hollywood guys and they’re literally scared. The right certainty over exaggerates this, but there is really reductive moralistic reactions plaguing a lot of modern film criticism.
How did woke s*** kill it when we still got great and even decent comedies during that time period?
give me few examples?
there are no more good comedy
sjw woke s*** killed it
The MCU killed it actually.
I hate when people say “woke” culture killed comedy like if you can’t be funny without being racist or homophobic ur probably not that funny to begin with

It's not even being racist or homophobic. You get people who hop on social media to be outraged over ANYthing
They'd probably criticize Superbad if it dropped today. "I can't believe they made a movie about teenagers trying to get girls drunk so they could have s***with them. #SethRogenIsOver"

There were multiple articles, videos, and essays about that exact thing. S*** like “Superbad promotes rape culture”. If people don’t think that sort of criticism becoming more prominent in the last decade didn’t have an influence on Hollywood producers than they’re delusional.

This hasn’t happened in at least 5 years. Last time Social media had that much power was when they canceled the Confederate show on HBO.
But some great comedy specials just came out
Tell me which specials you've liked this year. Genuinely excited to hear this.

I'd argue that, outside of Shane's (only cuz hes new), everything that all of those comedians put out this year isn't as good as anything they've done 2-3 specials ago.
