If anything I honestly think I’m pretty secure with myself and my relationship. I’ve brought my girl to clubs and let her go out on her own with her friends to clubs and bars and s*** and I know some men who are mad insecure about letting their girl go out, I even tell her to try and finesse drinks for us sometimes when we’re out and about for fun.

I feel like this might not add anything that hasn't already been said, but here's my experience.

I consider the women friends I made in college some of my best friends, and they're who I go to for advice 95% of the time, especially relationship advice. I just went to visit Philly and stayed with one of them; she's in a relationship and I've never had any feelings towards her. She's attractive but I would never even consider doing anything with her. We spent the weekend together, she showed me around the city, and it was an amazing time. Perfect example of a non-complicated platonic friendship.

That said, the person who I currently consider perhaps my best friend is a girl who I used to have serious unrequited feelings for, but she was in an LDR when we met and we developed our friendship and I just never had a chance to try and turn it into anything more than that. Eventually I told her, just to get the feelings off my chest (I had no expectations), and she was totally fine with it and it didn't change our relationship at all. Since then, I've been fine and don't feel any type of way about it other than valuing her as my best friend. Getting those feelings off my chest was very helpful.

I say all that to say that while platonic relationships don't have to be complicated, they def can be, but if you can't figure the complicated s*** out in a mature way, then you don't deserve the benefits of having women friends.
