Bauhaus, Siouxsie, and Cure is like Gothic s***
Smiths and Echo are Jangle Pop
New Order is New Wave
Talking Heads are just bad
just because they fall into the gothic of new wave category or they changed styles later doesnt mean they arent post punk also
Siouxsie and The Banshees are one of THE seminal post punk bands. if you say they arent post punk its just objectively wrong. they will be mentioned in almost any article about the genre I'll bet
Smiths are definitely not post punk though lol.
also, post punk is one of those genres where there is a lot of overlap. so imo its very worth talking about bands that may not be 100% pure post punk

They all come under post punk lol.
Gothic Rock is an offspring of Post Punk.
A band can have multiple genre descriptions.
Only one I agree with here is The Smiths but they can still be classified as post punk. (Their first album anyways)
Gothic I’ll admit has a lot of overlap but like New Wave became a very distinctive thing outside of Post Punk.
New Order was really only that for their first album in transition from the end of Joy Division and with hints on PCL with songs like We All Stand. By the time Technique released, it was a very different thing from the majority of those artists origin.
If I was talking about origin then yeah, almost all these musicians came from a punk leaning background. That’s just something you can’t deny

Yeah but that's if we are talking about specific albums.
The bands mentioned are all Post Punk, It's such a broad genre with so many offsprings that it's hard to really say what is or isn't/
There's so many elements that make up post punk from the vocals, to the atmospheric production, drums and bass, Interweaving guitar lines.
Like the genre was constantly expanding from 70s to mid 80s.
New Wave took heavy influence from Post Punk so most just group them together.
I do see what you mean though, your not really wrong.
