I've noticed over the past couple years, starting from Starboy,he's leaning more and more towards singing in a lower register. When Starboy dropped he said it was creative decision to test himself or something along those lines, but i'm wondering if he can still sing high for majority of an album. The song he teased is also lower
Btw for all the criticism bbtm gets,it does have some of his best vocals especially for those like me who prefer the higher register
apparently the vocal coach he uses now likes to teach artists to sing in their head voice
abel wasnt the best singer during trilogy days but the rawness of his vocals were something special and hit the soul on another level

Interesting. I just really want him to return to some of the vocal acrobatics (for lack of a better term) that he did on bbtm
@theweekndxo Tell them, Abel.
it’s probably to sustain his voice longer
SZA nearly ruined her voice trying to perform in a tone that wasn’t natural

That album gets criticized. That’s one of his best albums. Both critics, ktt, irl people all love it. It’s probably one of his most liked albums

I've seen people call it his worst album by far and idgi. I love that album to death. It's probably my personal favorite
juice wrld collab was kinda shotty, but I still have faith
I actually really liked his vocals on there. The "ooh yeah" adlib and harmonizing was great

the last line i liked, but it just didn't hit for me first listen
Scared to Live is pretty clearly proof he can lol
And on Starboy, he also hit high notes through songs like Nothing Without You, A Lonely Night, etc
Even Call Out Your Name verse 2
The point is that he was kinda playing into getting associated with just being that guy who can sing really high and he wanted to explore lower register so he could try different type of songs, like Escape from LA or Too Late
as someone said in this thread its literally because of the rawness from his untrained voice. After Trilogy he started taking extremely professional lessons and sings in a much safer/traditional/professional way now and the rawness that emitted from Trilogy is gone which made his voice insane
his voice is still amazing of course it just doesnt hit the same
Came in here ready to s*** on OP only to realize like three tracks have them high notes on After Hours lmao.
Too Late
Heartless
After Hours
It seems like he can still do it, just chooses not to all the time. It’s probably for the best so that it doesn’t get too played out
I think he still can @op, but they're harder to deliver consistently on a live setting, which is probably why he uses his head voice much more now
I remember an interview of his explaining how In The Night was one of the hardest tracks to sing in his discog
it’s probably to sustain his voice longer

imma keep on smoking till i cant hit another note
but until then..
