His subject matter is f***ing lame. He should go f***ing live in a country where they rule based on these outdated, war mongering scriptures with an iron fist

Single sentence first impression of each song

    Intro: It's an intro.

Ghost of Soulja Slim: Beat is better than the vocals.

The blinding: Liking the bass line, song is bad ass, groovy and chill at the same time.

The never ending story: Jay's verse is wack, need a Jay Elec only version.

Shiny suit theory: felt like I was stuck, the applauds ain't necessary.

Universal Soldier: Subject matter is wack, f*** all your ideologies.

Flux Capacitor: Song sounds forced and the ending was the best part.

Fruits of the spirit: Vintage Jay Elec, got that nostalgia.

Ezekeil's Wheel: Good track, added it to my Airplane nap time playlist.

A.P.I.D.T.A: This beat is very good, hope the instrumental comes out.

Good Album. He should follow it up soon, he might catch a classic down the line cause this ain't the one.

Don’t ever talk about music ever again.

Crazy how he’s probably gonna go on another decade long hiatus, that is if he ever drops again

    scoop

for years we’ve had to put up with everyone overhyping this guy, acting like he was some sort of untouchable rap-saving saint, and because he didnt have a discography you couldnt argue. how can you be bad if you’ve never even released an album right?

well now we finally have it. after 12 years we are finally allowed to critique Jay Elec and guess what? he is boring and forgettable as f***. it is genuinely laughable how little he has to show for the past decade.

wtf is this album? why now? why not 10 years ago? it sounds like an album that could have came out 10 years ago. did he run out of money? hell it sounds like an album that could have came out 25 years ago. there is nothing cutting edge here and even Jay Elec himself takes a backseat as he needed Hov to appear on over half the album to pad up the minutes

and the worst thing about it is that Hov absolutely outshines him on every song. Jay Elec becomes a background character on his own debut album as he chooses to rhyme about scriptures and spaceships and s*** on every track in the exact same boring flow and tone of voice. wtf are you even talking about Jay Elec my man??

tldr: this is a boring album and i for one am glad that the Jay Electronica mystery can finally be put to bed

"it could have come out 25 years ago" really? in 1995? lmao. youre either trolling or a casual when it comes to music in general.

he wasnt fooling people with "mystery" who pay attention to hip hop. he has over 100 songs. fans know his aesthetics . you call it mystery because you dont pay attention to hip hop like that

How is he trash he just produced a Jay Z album

When a 50 year old Jay Z renegades your debut album to where you are the backdrop, esp. with the aura Elec has had since the wait started, that's a bad look.

Everyone is only talking about how great Hov is when mentioning the album for the most part.

  • While first album man got tons of material out and it’s fire

  • How did I know KTT was gonna find some way to hate on this album...y'all PREDICTABLE.

i think you've confused islam with nation of islam. NOI does not forbid music

Even then that Muslim take is very subjective

It's almost like saying any muslim musician arent good muslims cause they do music

As if that don't include a mass amount of hip hop

I’m glad it’s happening tbh. Jay Elect did his thing but Hov continuing to be this great should spark a whole new convo. Artists and fans have to rethink this “hip hop is a young mans game” mindset. The last couple years the greats have just been showing artists can do this forever if they just accept they’re getting older and continue to grow. A lot of them have even gotten better.
