Antisocial is not a mental illness and trauma is obvious but the point is that Batman suffered from trauma and he’s acting “normal” there’s no sign of a mental illness
This is the same for most heroes who suffered from trauma
Usually when a character suffers from a mental illness it’s either a villain or an anti hero
Anti heroes is lowkey what OP is looking for but why do they have to be anti heroes why not just heroes

Feel like a decent number of anime heroes/protagonists do
Evangelion a prime example, Guts from Berserk, eren from aot, Light from death note, etc

I agree about anime
They do it better I don’t really see it in Hollywood
Yeah just remembered The Perks of being a Wallflower guy has a mental illness and he’s the hero
Villains with mental illness is fine. It's using that mental illness to justify the extremely f***ed up s*** they do in films, shows, games, etc is where it gets bad.
Take Kefka from Final Fantasy VI. Yes, due to constant experimentation and testing it caused his mental state to shatter and it formed into a legitimate illness and insanity. However, none of that s*** justifies him destroying half of the world and attempting to put an end to all existence once he becomes a god.
Joker is another example. Yes, that "one bad day" caused him to finally crack and it turned him into a lunatic. However, just because he is mentally ill/insane does not make him worthy of empathy. Mostly because he doesn't give a f*** about any of the horrible s*** he does or the amount of people he kills.
rt Joker one of the worst for this.
dont know anything about that final fantasy weeb s*** tho
Broken person comes from a broken mind.
I have some illness myself but I'll be the first to admit there's a reason it exists
I know a borderline b**** who was convicted of murder like a year ago.
It sucks but it's real s***

Eat s***.
We really need to stop the negative and dangerous portrayal of "psych wards." As a person who has worked in them...they don't look or operate the way you see them on TV.

interesting
Most villains are mentally ill tho. They lie, kill, steal, and don’t believe that the rules apply to them
batman is definitely a suicidal nihilistic revenge artist dressed in superhero clothing
would prob get flying colors on the mach iv
still a cool guy tho
@ChipSkylark
Yeah just remembered The Perks of being a Wallflower guy has a mental illness and he’s the hero
Silver Linings Playbook
A beautiful mind
Shutter Island
Birdman
The Aviator
interesting
Seriously, lol. S*** be looking like prison. And then you have a****** staff and patients with over exaggerated symptoms. Why would anyone voluntarily go to these for help, lol?
If you're black, wake up
The proud boys already did
It'll be too late soon
Lol what I said got taken out of context and I tried to explain but got banned before i could
I’m black
I was saying for black people to wake up and defend themselves cuz the proud boys have, like what’s gonna happen if they start killing us fr we gonna complain on Twitter no, fight back
I think just using mental illness is a very boring way to explain a villain‘s motives. Like atleast give me some kind of conservative from ideology driven a******. When you got literally white supremacist walking around in the world then that’s definitely proof enough that human beings can be evil and sane.
