apathetic losers each and every one of yall. Hope all yall quoting that s*** headbutt a moving train.

    The people don't deserve this.

    @Scratchin_Bandit No humanity at ALL.

Solidarity means people in areas where reactionary local politicians are voted in also deserve basic human rights, but then again libs don't even care for the concept of solidarity

To y’all joking itt about this:
Imagine waking up and being informed that you cannot use any water from any faucet or pipe. In a city with a population of 180k people.

You can blame a s*** government and s*** politicians, but don’t blame the people who just try to make it day to day.

What would your thought process be if this happened to you? Probably “how am I going to take care of my family and how will we survive?”

You really think KTT users have the capacity for basic empathy ?

During a Tuesday press conference, Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said that the city is thrilled to be getting support from the state after battling "the Jackson water crisis" alone for the past two years. He said it had been a matter of when the system would fail — not if.

Lumumba expressed frustration that there was no previous long-term commitment from officials to replace or upgrade Jackson's water system. He estimated that it would take about $1 billion to fully improve the system.

only a matter of time before heads start rolling bro.

These government officials can't keep playing with the people like this.

1B to fix the water system in f***ing Jackson Mississippi is insane money

That’s just some random city too. Mfs just playing around with the money until some serious s*** like this starts happening

1B is nothing for the US. How is this even happening in a first world country ? This is what you'd expect from corrupt countries oh wait

But tbh all Mississippi delta region towns and cities are like this. Pine Bluffs population is literally half of what it was 20 years ago. Its the poorest region in the US. Agriculture became mechanized or outsourced to other countries so there's no more jobs in this region. Theres still a large population in this area that cant afford to just pack up their families and move. Their only solution seems to be putting up casinos, which coincidentally poor people also happen to be twice as likely to have gambling addictions.

As someone who's working in electric and telecom infrastructure, its a pain in the ass as far as logistics go. You have to put in a one call to dig something up. You have to make this one call days in advance before you start to dig. Then you have to wait for each utility or company to come out and spot their own line before you can dig. Some companies like Windstream for example can't be bothered to come out or puts you on a 2 week wait minimum. After all of that is completed you can finally start the actual work. Now imagine doing this process every time for each line you ran or property you cross. This isn't even including dealing with property easements and inspections.

I'm not making excuses for Flint, just trying to give you an idea of how a long drawn out process this is going to be.

Yeah i know its a major project in general, but in Flints case they were literally ignored utill like 2017/2018 when the issues started in 2014 n became majorly known in 2015.

The local and national govt just ignored them n then took forever to actually do anything about it.

The abandonment is what is what is really bad (and no accountability on the city n state) about it all.

Hopefully Mississippi gets actual help faster.
